Golf Aim Caddie ("we", "our" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("the App").
Purpose: We collect your approximate location to provide accurate weather data and calculate shot recommendations and ball flight trajectory based on your golf course. For example, we use your location to show how a 15 mph headwind affects your 7-iron shot distance. See the permission request in the app for more details.
How: The App requests access to your device’s location services.
Storage: Location coordinates are used temporarily during your golf session (up to 24 hours) to retrieve weather data and are not stored permanently on our servers.
Third-Party Sharing: Location coordinates are sent to the OpenWeather API solely to retrieve weather data.
Source: We fetch weather information from the OpenWeather API based on your location.
Data includes: Temperature, wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, and humidity.
Storage: This data is temporarily cached on your device during your golf session (up to 24 hours) and not stored permanently.
Purpose: To understand how users interact with the app, identify popular features, detect crashes/errors, and improve the overall user experience.
What we collect: Anonymized or pseudonymized data including automatically collected events (screen views, button taps, session duration), device information (model, OS version, language), approximate country/region (derived from IP), app instance identifiers, and performance metrics. We may also log custom events if implemented in the future.
Identifiers: The SDK uses app-instance IDs and may collect advertising identifiers (e.g., IDFA on iOS or AAID on Android) if available on your device. These are used for analytics purposes and are not linked to personally identifiable information by us.
Storage & Retention: Data is processed by Google and retained according to Google's policies (typically up to 14 months for some data, configurable). We do not store this data ourselves.
Important: Firebase Analytics does not collect names, emails, phone numbers or other directly identifiable personal information from our app.
Purpose: To remember your preferred units (metric/imperial), clubs, distances, and other personalization settings.
Storage: All settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
Sharing: These preferences are never shared with third parties or uploaded to external servers.
Purpose: To provide real-time weather data based on your location.
Shared data: Your approximate GPS coordinates.

Shared data: Anonymized usage events, device & system information, app instance IDs, and in some cases advertising identifiers (see above).
Opt-out / Controls: You can disable personalized ads / advertising features in your device settings (Advertising settings on Android / Limit Ad Tracking on iOS). Some analytics collection can also be limited via device privacy settings.

Data: Standard app performance and crash reporting data (e.g., crash logs, device type) may be collected by Expo to improve the platform. You can opt out of certain analytics by adjusting settings in the Expo client if available.

Local Storage: All data (preferences and basic usage counters) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
No Cloud Storage for Personal Data: We do not operate any servers or cloud storage for your personal data. Analytics data is processed by Google Firebase.
Security: Locally stored data is protected by your device’s built-in encryption and security features. We recommend securing your device with a passcode or biometric lock.

Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age. The app is designed for the general public and golf enthusiasts of all ages.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app and may be communicated via a notification. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
